How to better organize your personal finances
Here, Beira Rio gives you a few steps to organize your finances and achieve a healthier financial life.
You may have heard of financial education, but do you know why it matters? For you to have more peace of mind and acquire a healthier relationship with money. And an essential step is to first have your income and expenses listed, either by apps or spreadsheets, to be able to visualize all this movement. Contrary to what one in four people thinks, who believe that these calculations can be done mentally (23%), according to research by the SPC (Credit Protection Service). So, follow us here to see the steps of how to plan better:
1 - Arrange a budget: write down how much you receive every month and all your expenses, fixed and variable, organizing by categories such as housing, transportation, food, home, health, leisure and others. Set what percentage will be destined for each of these areas. Do not forget to list small daily expenses. It is critical that you spend less than you receive.
2 - Create your financial reserve: then, always try to save a monthly amount of your income to create your emergency reserve, for when something unforeseen occur. The ideal is to set apart 10% of your salary every month, but whatever you manage to get, is already super valid!
3 - Pay off your debts: within your planning, it is important to separate an amount to pay off debts, or even renegotiate, with lower interest for example. They should appear as one of the priorities in your budget.
4 - Prioritize essential spending: like health and food. And when you reorganize your finances, look at what can be cut, such as reducing your internet or mobile plan. But be careful not to buy optional services that can raise the bill.
5 - Apps that help you: there are several finance apps such as Mobbilis (https://www.mobills.com.br/) and Organizze(https://www.organizze.com.br). Or if you prefer, write down your expenses on a spreadsheet or even on paper. The budget serves as a guide, but it should not immobilize you. Example, if you have went over on leisure spending, you can compensate and reduce on some other item.
6 - Plan your purchases: making shopping lists, before going to the supermarket, for example, helps prevent impulse buying. Speaking of lists, you can read more on this subject in the post How to make lists to make your day to day more practical and healthy.
7 - Choose to pay with cash: when buying, always prefer this option, which can usually get you a discount. If this is not possible, look at the interest on the installment and check what is the final amount with the addition.
8 - Credit card: keep an eye on your spending, because it can give the false impression that you can buy at will, but remember that you will have to pay the bill the following month. If not, watch out for the minimum payment and interest, to avoid a snowball effect.
